In San Miguel de Allende, beyond its architectural beauty and vibrant cultural life, quiet initiatives are transforming lives. One of them is CRISMA—the Centro de Rehabilitación Física Integral San Miguel de Allende—which since 2015 has provided specialized care for people with disabilities, those in vulnerable situations, and individuals undergoing physical recovery.

Now in its tenth year, CRISMA—a social program of Fundación Vamos México, founded by Marta Sahagún de Fox—supports over 400 families weekly, serving both urban and rural communities across the municipality. While it began with a focus on children with disabilities and people facing economic hardship, it now also serves older adults, post-surgical patients, and members of the international community looking for a trustworthy and professional rehabilitation center.

CRISMA offers physical, psychological, occupational, and general medical therapies in a warm and welcoming setting. Services include hydrotherapy, fall prevention, speech therapy, and neuropediatrics. Its multidisciplinary model takes an integrated approach to care, addressing physical, emotional, and social needs. One of CRISMA’s greatest strengths is its ability to build networks. Through partnerships with civil society organizations, businesses, and academic institutions, it has expanded its reach to remote communities via mobile clinics, health fairs, and caregiver training programs.

In Mexico, more than 6 million people live with a disability and face multiple barriers to accessing adequate services. In Guanajuato alone, over 180,000 individuals live with some form of disability. For many, CRISMA offers a nearby, accessible, and dignified alternative.

To talk about CRISMA is to speak of inclusion, empathy, and community. Every step forward in therapy is a step toward a fuller life. Here, rehabilitation is more than just clinical—it’s a deeply human act.
